This is a good demonstration of the ‘moral licensing’ phenomenon, in which [peope who think they have performed some ethical deed] may feel entitled to behave unethically in other ways.

Read it, find out what this ethical sacrifice involves, snigger and sigh, then make applications to yourself, and sigh again.
