How sermons work
David Murray (Professor of Old Testament and Practical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary) has put into one document his material on How Sermons Work. The material is relatively brief and helpfully clear, evidently drawing on the best models of pastoral theology past and present. I have yet to read through the whole thing in detail, but this looks like an excellent resource (either as introduction or refresher to the homiletical and hortatory side of pastoral theology), perhaps alongside something like Preaching Pure and Simple by Stuart Olyott.
